Why do healthy foods taste bland at first, but then start to taste good?

The first reaction to healthy food is that it seems to taste bland. This is because the heavy sweeteners, chemicals and additives that we have eaten for years has destroyed the way our taste buds properly function, so that they cannot properly ‘taste’ real food. Because of this damage, we require excessively sweet and salty foods to satisfy our taste buds.

Trick of the taste buds: It takes about 1 week of healthy foods without heavy sugar, salt, and additives for your taste buds to begin to ‘grow’ back and function normally again.  At this point, go ahead and try some of your old foods. They won’t taste the same. Sweet foods will taste even sweeter, fatty foods will be greasy, and salt will be overwhelming!
